The Allen-Bradley 1746-IV16 is an SLC 500 Digital DC Input Module with an operating voltage of 10 - 30V DC (sourcing). It has 16 inputs with 16 points per common group and it requires a backplane current load of 0.085 A at 5V DC. It has a maximum signal delay of 8ms in both the On and Off state. The 1746-IV16 has a maximum Off-state current and voltage of 1 mA and 5V DC. It has a nominal input current of 8 mA at 24V DC and a maximum power dissipation of 3.6 W. It finds applications in general-purpose DC inputs in an SLC 500 system.
The 1746-IV16 module is responsible for receiving and storing digitally-converted analog data into its data image table to be retrieved by all modular and fixed SLC 500 processors. It supports connections from up to 8 sensors or actuators for various applications. The 1746-IV16 comes along with removable terminal blocks, eliminating the need to disconnect any wires and making module replacement easy. It also includes filter circuitry and optical coupling for signal noise reduction.
The 1746-IV16 module input values can be easily accessed by SLC 500 processors that use Ladder Logic programming. Troubleshooting becomes easier with LED indicators that show input status values. The SLC 500 system uses sharing-based hardware platform which includes various combinations of digital and analog I/O, thus saving cost and space. The 1746-IV16 is intended for use in an environment with a 0 - 60 °C (32 - 140 °F) temperature and a 5 - 95% noncondensing relative humidity.
