The 1747-ASB module is a remote I/O adapter within the SLC 500 system, designed to establish seamless communication between SLC or PLC scanners and various 1746 I/O modules through a Remote I/O connection. In this setup, the Remote I/O network includes a single master device, such as an SLC or PLC scanner, alongside multiple adapter-based slave devices.
This module supports effective image mapping for I/O modules, utilizing both discrete and block transfer methods. For addressing, the 1747-ASB accommodates 1/2-slot, 1-slot, and 2-slot configurations, optimizing image utilization across different setups. Installed directly within the same chassis as the SLC 500 processor, this adapter scans I/O data efficiently within the chassis. It operates with a backplane current of 375 mA at 5V (0 mA at 24V), with thermal dissipation values ranging from 1.875 W.
For flexible data communication, the 1747-ASB can transmit I/O data up to 3040 meters and supports baud rates of 57.6K, 115.2K, and 230.4K. It also allows users to select an image size of up to 32 logical groups and controls up to 30 chassis slots, providing extensive compatibility and adaptability across systems.
