1756-DNB/A Scanner Module

The 1756-DNB/A is a DeviceNet scanner module designed for integration within a modular control system. It functions as a bridge, facilitating communication between the control system and DeviceNet modules. The module collects data from connected DeviceNet devices and provides a copy of this data to the system controller, as well as transmitting controller instructions back to the devices. It supports DeviceNet communication rates of 125 kilobits per second by default, with options for 250 kilobits per second and up to 500 kilobits per second. The module can address DeviceNet nodes numbered 00 to 63, with a default address of 63, supporting a maximum of 64 nodes. It is compatible with select controllers for seamless communication and control.

The 1756-DNB/A scanner communicates using diagnostic tables, inputs, and outputs when interacting with the controller. It uses strobe, poll, change-of-state, and cyclic messages to exchange configuration data, operational status, and I/O information between devices and the controller. Input data received from devices is organized and made accessible to the controller, while output data from the controller is relayed to the devices.

The module's current draw is 400 milliamps at 5.1 Volts DC and 0 milliamps at 24 Volts DC. Its power dissipation is approximately 3.5 Watts, with thermal dissipation at 11.9 BTU/hour. Designed for flexibility, the 1756-DNB/A can be installed in any available slot within a compatible chassis and operates alongside network configuration software for setup and monitoring.
