The Allen-Bradley 1756-L63 is a ControlLogix controller, which has two kinds, namely Series A and Series B. This controller can perform three major controller tasks: 32 tasks, 100 programs per task, and event task: all event triggers. The 1756-L63 has full support for controller redundancy, except for motion applications. It can also support a maximum of 250 controller connections.
The 1756-L63 has an available memory of 8 MB for data and logic and a 478 kb I/O memory. You can also add a backup memory for this controller. Note that the only nonvolatile memory you can use is the 128 MB 1784-CF128 CompactFlash memory card. It has a maximum analog I/O of 4000 and a maximum digital I/O and total I/O of 128,000 for both.
This controller has a built-in RS-132 serial communication port. Communication options available for this controller include DeviceNet, ControlNet, EtherNet/IP, SynchLink, Remote I/O, Data Highway Plus, and third-party process and device networks. Serial port communications that this controller support are Modbus via logic, DH-485, DF1 radio modem, ASCII, and DF1 full/half-duplex.
