It is a ControlLogix standard controller. It has a 16 MB user memory available for data and logic and an I/O memory of 478 kb. An optional CompactFlash memory card can be used as an additional non-volatile memory of this controller.Note that the only memory card compatible with the 1756-L64 is the 128 MB 1764-CF128 model.

The 1756-L64 controller has a maximum digital I/O of 128,000, which is the same with its maximum total I/O. Its maximum analog I/O is 4000.It also has full support for controller redundancy.
