The 1762-IR4 is an analog input module designed to interface with Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs) and resistance-generating devices. This module is suitable for applications involving temperature measurement, as RTDs measure temperature by providing specific resistance outputs corresponding to certain temperatures. Additionally, it can also be used to monitor or measure displacement in devices such as cylinders, clamping mechanisms, and similar equipment.
This module supports a wide range of RTD types, including:
Platinum (385): 100Ω, 200Ω, 500Ω, 1000Ω
Platinum (3916): 100Ω, 200Ω, 500Ω, 1000Ω
Copper (426): 10Ω
Nickel (672 & 618): 120Ω
Nickel-Iron (518): 604Ω
It is compatible with 2-wire, 3-wire, and 4-wire RTDs. For resistance-generating devices, it accepts resistance ranges of 0-150Ω, 0-500Ω, 0-1000Ω, and 0-3000Ω.
The module converts the received analog signal into digital values, which are saved to registers and can be formatted as raw/proportional values, engineering units (x1 or x10), scaled-for-PID, or percentage of full scale. Input filters can be applied to reduce noise and condition the input signal.
The 1762-IR4 serves as an expansion module and enhances the capabilities of certain controllers. The number of modules supported depends on the specific controller being used. This module features four RTD/resistance input channels and uses Delta-Sigma conversion for analog input data processing. It has dimensions of 90 x 87 x 40 mm and dissipates 1.5 Watts of heat, making it suitable for compact installations. It can be mounted using either DIN rail or panel-mounting techniques.
