The Allen-Bradley 1769-BOOLEAN comes with an LED display and an open-type enclosure. It measures 3.34 inches in depth, 4.65 inches in height and 1.38 inches in width, and it weighs approximately 0.625 lb. It has a 10-30V DC input signal and a 20.4 - 26.4V DC output signal. It features a closed loop time of 1 microsecond and it can mount on a DIN-rail or panel mount. The 1769-BOOLEAN module is a combination of 24V DC input/output.  Its outputs can be controlled using Boolean expressions or controlled directly from the program. When the expression is TRUE, it signifies output as ON state. And when it is FALSE, the output channel is at OFF state. The module's Boolean expression has 4 operations to configure, OR, AND, XOR, or NONE.

The 1769-BOOLEAN module comes with eight single-ended 24V DC inputs and four single-ended 24V DC sourcing outputs. The sourcing describes how the current flows in I/O and the field device. It has a 220-mA max current draw at 5.1V and a draw of 0 mA at 24V. Its heat dissipation reaches 3.55 W at most. The 1769-BOOLEAN’s isolation voltage is 75V DC and it is rated to withstand 1200V AC for 1 s or 1697V DC for 1 s in dielectric tests. Its isolation voltage is IEC verified class 2 reinforced insulation type. 

The 1769-BOOLEAN comes with 8 virtual and real inputs and 24V AC sinking voltage. The module has an operating voltage range 10-30 V DC at 30 °C and 10-26V DC at 60 °C. It has 10 μs OFF-ON and ON-OFF input delay and an input impedance which is 2.0 kΩ at 24V DC and 2.3 kΩ at 30V DC.

The 1769 Compact I/O™ modules can be used in the following applications: • With a CompactLogix™ controller • For expansion I/O in a MicroLogix™ 1500 controller assembly • In an assembly with a 1769-ADN DeviceNet adapter • In an assembly with a 1769-AENTR Ethernet adapter. Unless connected to a MicroLogix 1500 base, each bank of I/O modules must include its own power supply. Install the I/O modules on a panel with two mounting screws or on a DIN rail. The modules mechanically lock together with a tongue-and-groove design and have an integrated communication bus that is connected from module to module by a moveable bus connector.


Each 1769 I/O module has a distance rating. In 1769 systems, the distance rating is the number of modules between the specific module and the 1769 power supply. In a 1768 system, the distance rating is the number of modules between the specific I/O module and the 1768 controller.

Most output modules have built-in surge suppression to reduce the effects of high-voltage transients. Use an additional suppression device if an output is being used to control inductive devices, such as relays, motor starters, solenoids, or motors.

Additional suppression is especially important if your inductive device is in series with or parallel to hard contacts, such as push buttons or selector switches. Add a suppression device directly across the coil of an inductive device. The suppression device reduces the effects of voltage transients that are caused by interrupting the current to that device and to prolong the life of the switch contacts.
