The 1771-IAD is a discrete input module designed to handle AC and DC signal voltages, such as 120VAC at 50/60 Hz and 125VDC. It features sixteen (16) input channels and is compatible with various chassis models, including 1771-A1B through A4B, as well as later universal I/O chassis. It can also be installed in the 1771-AM1 and AM2 chassis.
This module is commonly used for interfacing discrete devices such as pushbuttons, switches, relay auxiliary contacts, contactors, and other similar components.
The 1771-IAD supports selectable input signal delays, such as 5ms (+3ms) or 20ms (+5ms) for AC at 60 Hz and 3ms (+0.1ms) or 10ms (+1ms) for DC, when transitioning from Off to On. For On to Off transitions, the delay is 25ms (+5ms) for both AC and DC. The On-state voltage range is 79 VAC to 138VAC or VDC.
In terms of power consumption, it has a maximum dissipation of 8.8 Watts and a minimum of 1.0 Watt, with corresponding thermal dissipation values of 30.1 BTU/hr (maximum) and 3.42 BTU/hr (minimum). The backplane current draw is 195 mA at 5V.
The module uses a 1771-WH field wiring arm, which functions similarly to a removable terminal block. This simplifies the wiring and maintenance processes for the module. Installation in a compatible chassis requires keying positions between 10 and 12 or 14 and 16 to ensure proper alignment and operation.
