This feature reduces stress on contacts and other sensitive components by minimizing current surges. The module is compatible with certain I/O chassis, excluding the 1771-A1, 1771-A2, and 1771-A4 models. The output range spans from 10 to 138 Volts AC with a frequency of 47 to 63 Hertz, and it has an output current rating of 2 Amps. The minimum load current is 5 mA, and the maximum leakage current when off is 3.0 mA at 138 Volts AC.
The module's power dissipation is 13 Watts maximum and 1.5 Watts minimum, with a thermal dissipation of 48.0 BTU/hour at maximum and 5.13 BTU/hour at minimum. When using the module with a device that includes a diode in series with the load, a shunt resistor (39 KOhm, 1 Watt) should be placed in the circuit to ensure proper operation. This resistor may cause the LED indicator to light up when the output is switched off; in such cases, replacing the LED with an incandescent lamp is recommended.
Power for the module is supplied via the I/O chassis backplane from the chassis power supply, requiring 295 mA of current from the supply. The total current requirement of all modules in the chassis should be considered to avoid overloading the backplane and power supply.
This is a discrete output module compatible with selected I/O chassis such as 1771-A1B through -A4B or later, as well as 1771-AM1 and -AM2 chassis. It is designed for use with the PLC5 programmable logic system.
