The 1794-ASB is a Remote I/O communication adapter designed for use with distributed I/O systems. This module is part of a product family that offers flexible I/O solutions for industrial applications.
The 1794-ASB features a single Remote I/O interface and uses the RIO protocol, a legacy standard, to connect to devices using Belden 9463 cables or equivalent. It is compatible with older control systems, such as PLC2, PLC3, and PLC5, as well as modern controller platforms and third-party devices, including partner modules.
This module facilitates data exchange with controllers through Block Transfer Read (BTR) and Block Transfer Write (BTW) instructions, enabling data packets to be sent either simultaneously or sequentially based on the required speed.
The 1794-ASB supports communication rates of 57.6Kbps, 115.2Kbps, and 230.4Kbps. It operates with a supply voltage range of 11VDC-31.2VDC (with 5% AC ripple), with a nominal supply of 24VDC. The module is capable of supporting up to eight Flex I/O modules for efficient distributed I/O architecture.
It also includes built-in status indicators, including Power, Adapter Active, Adapter Fault, and Local Fault LEDs. The module is designed to be mounted on a standard DIN rail and has an open type enclosure, which means it requires installation within an appropriate protective enclosure to safeguard it from industrial contaminants and environmental factors.
