The PLC 1203-GD1 remote I/O module is a 1203 series communications module. It functions as an optional interface for PLC PLCs and PLC SCANport devices and it provides a direct link between these 2 devices. To operate properly, the 1203-GD1 remote I/O module needs a NEMA Type 1 rated enclosure for protection and a power supply that can provide 85 to 264 Volts AC voltage. It is made to be mounted on a DIN rail. It connects to the SCANport device with a SCANport cable, and it connects to the remote I/O link with a remote I/O cable. The features of the 1203-GD1 remote I/O module include DIP switches that are used to configure it, LED indicators for updates about the module, remote I/O link, and SCANport device’s status, and datalinks.
The PLC 1203-GD1 remote I/O module is compatible with most of the different PLC 1336 product lines as well as with devices from the PLC SMC Dialog Plus, 1305, 1394, and 1397 product lines. Although they have different ratings, the 1203-GD1 remote I/O module and the 1203-GK1 module share the same physical features which include the SCANport and power supply connectors, the remote I/O connectors, the status LEDs, the DIP switches, the DIN rail mounting mechanisms, and the termination resistors. To install the 1203-GD1 remote I/O module, the technicians will need termination resistors, a DIN rail with dimensions of 35 x 7.
