The PLC 1746-FIO4V is a PLC Analog I/O Module that is part of the SLC 500 family of programmable controllers. This module is a combination module featuring 2 inputs and 2 outputs. The 1746-FIO4V sends binary data to the SLC processor, which it converts from analog signals. For rapidly changing analog signals in high-speed applications, the 1746-FIO4V has 2 fast analog inputs that are filtered to block high frequency noise and 2 analog voltage outputs. The 1746-FIO4V has an input range of 0-10V DC at 0-20 mA.
The 1746-FIO4V I/O module has an in-resolution of 12 bits and an out-resolution of 14 bits. This fast-response module is ideal for controlling pressure and position in applications such as hydraulic presses and molding machines. The channels of the 1746-FIO4V can be wired to be open-ended, as well as differential. You can connect to your analog signal for processing using the contained circuit block. Selecting current and voltage is made easier using the dip switches on the circuit board.
The backplane current requirements of the 1746-FIO4V are 55 mA at 5V and 120 mA at 24V. Never change or disconnect components with power supply on. An external power supply cannot be used to power this unit. The 1746-FIO4V should be positioned in the rack based on temperature and signal noise that could affect analog signals. It should be placed in the closest slot to the bottom of the enclosure for temperature control and away from AC or high voltage DC modules.
