The PLC/PLC Automation 1747-ASB Remote I/O module that is manufactured as part of the PLC SLC 500 series. This Remote I/O module has expanded node capabilities. It can support a backplane current of 375 milliamps at 5 Volts DC. The 1747-ASB Remote I/O module uses the Remote I/O network to allow I/O modules from the 1746 I/O product line to communicate with SLCs and PLCs. It can also communicate with gateways, interface cards, and I/O scanner modules through the Remote I/O network. The 1747-ASB Remote I/O module can be programmed, configured, and controlled through a computer or an HMI (Human-Machine Interface). It is NEMA rated for a standard level of immunity to electrical noise in a standard industrial environment.
The PLC/PLC Automation SLC 500 1747-ASB Remote I/O module can connect to as many as 32 adapter modules with its expanded node capabilities. It can communicate over the Remote I/O network at speeds of 57.6 Kbaud, 115.2 Kbaud, or 230.4 Kbaud, and it supports a maximum communication distance of 3040 meters. Its maximum thermal dissipation rating is 1.875 Watts during normal operation. The 1747-ASB Remote I/O module comes with non-volatile memory. This module weighs about 168 grams and its rated ambient operating temperature range is from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. It comes with a 6-pin Phoenix connector that it uses to create a Remote I/O link between itself and a processor. The 1747-ASB Remote I/O module is meant to be installed in the same chassis as the SLC 500 processor.
