The 1784-PKTXD Card is an PLC Network Interface Card. The 1784-PKTXD Network Interface Card is used for connecting PCs to PLC controllers through the Data Highway Plus (DH+) or the SLC processors, and on the DH485 networks. This allows the unit to achieve an easier and more efficient data acquisition process which is critical for industrial applications. The 1784-PKTXD Card comes with the I/O scanner functionality that is also available in different cards and is used with the soft-control or the embedded control engines. The 1784-PKTXD Card incorporates the Universal PCI card as a standard feature. Therefore, the card is compatible with different operating systems. The 1784-PKTXD Card can be used in environments where there is a need for general programming, configuration, and monitoring capabilities through an industrial device or through a computer desktop.
The 1784-PKTXD Card is ideal for use as a network interface card. Therefore, since it is a peripheral component interconnect universal card, it must be inserted into the PCI bus slot. If the operators are using a universal card, it must be placed in a PCI bus slot keyed for either the 3.3-Volt or for the 5-Volt signaling. The 1784-PKTXD Card communicates with the nodes that are placed on the Data Highway Plus network. This includes the PLC-5, the PLC-5/250, and the SLC 5/04 processors. The component performs data transmission, management, and the local network diagnostics. The 1784-PKTXD Card and the host PC exchange the data through a dual-port interface. This dual-port interface requires up to 4 KB of memory that begins at the base memory address that is addressed to the card by the PCI BIOS whenever the PC is started.
