The Allen-Bradley 1746-IB32 is an Input Module that is part of the SLC 500 series. This module has 32 inputs with 8 points per common and a sink current of 24V dc. The 1746-IB32 is for general-purpose dc inputs. This module features standard 24V ac/dc LEDs. A benefit of this input module is the high-density design for limited panel space. The operating voltage range of the module is 15-30V dc at 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit) and 15-26.4V dc at 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit). The backplane current of the 1746-IB32is 106 mA at 5V and 0 mA at 24V. The 1746-IB32 has a maximum OFF-state input current of 1.5 mA and a maximum OFF-state input of 5V dc. The nominal input current of the 1746-IB32 is 5.1 mA at 24V dc. The maximum signal ON delay for the module is 3 ms and the maximum signal OFF delay is 3 ms.
As one of the 32 inputs modules, the 1746-IB32 is equipped with a 40-pin, MIL-C-83503 type header and a removable wiring connector which can be assembled with the user’s choice of wire. Minimum thermal dissipation for the input module is 0.530 Watts. Maximum thermal dissipation for the module is 6.90 Watts. Additionally, the 1746-IB32 has 0.2 Watts per point. The input module has dc Com pins that are isolated between four groups. Two Com pins in each group are internally connected. In order to maintain the group isolation, use a 1492 terminal block which provides group isolation.
