The 1769-OA8 is a compact I/O module in Allen-Bradley’s 1769 I/O series. This digital A/C module runs on 120-240 volts of AC power.
Its operating temperature is between 32 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit and its storage temperature is between -40 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit. The1769-OA8 can mount onto a panel or a DIN rail, and it can operate at a shock rating of up to 30 g on a panel mount and at up to 20 g on a DIN rail mount.
Like other 1769 modules, the 1769-OA8 has no enclosure. As a result, it requires more safety precautions than other Allen-Bradley modules. Keep it away from UV radiation at all times, take care to avoid electrostatic discharge buildup, and make sure the module’s storage and operating environment are free of debris.
Despite the extra specifications, the 1769-OA8 also comes with several built-in safety features. These include a finger-safe cover for the I/O sensors and actuators, optically isolated digital and field circuits, and c-UL, CE, and C-Tick certifications. Shipping the module is also convenient because it is small (4.65 x 1.38 x 3.43 in.) and light (.61 lbs for the module alone, with a shipping weight of 2 lbs).
1769 Compact I/O Modules
The 1769 Compact I/O modules can be used with the
CompactLogix 5370 L2 and L3 controllers and 1768
CompactLogix controllers as follows:
• Local I/O modules
• Remote I/O modules accessible by using a
1769-AENTR EtherNet/IP adapter
The modules mechanically lock together by means of a
tongue-and-groove design and have an integrated
communication bus that is connected from module to
module by a moveable bus connector.
Each I/O module includes a built-in removable terminal
block with finger-safe cover for connections to I/O sensors
and actuators. The terminal block is behind a door at the
front of the module. I/O wiring can be routed from
beneath the module to the I/O terminals.
