The 3500/50M Tachometer Module is a 2-channel device designed to measure shaft rotational speed, rotor acceleration, and rotor direction by accepting input from proximity probes or magnetic pickups. It compares these measurements against user-programmable alarm setpoints, triggering alarms when the setpoints are violated. The module is configured via the 3500 Rack Configuration software and offers several configuration options, such as Speed Monitoring with Setpoint Alarming and Speed Band Alarming, Zero Speed Notification, Rotor Acceleration Alarming, and Reverse Rotation Notification.
In addition, the 3500/50M module can be configured to provide conditioned Keyphasor signals to the backplane of the 3500 rack for use by other monitors, eliminating the need for a separate Keyphasor module. It also includes a peak hold feature that stores the highest speed, highest reverse speed, or the number of reverse rotations reached by the machine, with the option to reset these peak values.
