Alpidem (Ananxyl) is an anxiolytic drug from the imidazopyridine family, related to the more well known sleeping medication zolpidem. Unlike zolpidem however, alpidem does not produce sedative effects at normal doses, and is instead used specifically for the treatment of anxiety.
Its anti-anxiety effect is superior to that of buspironone, which can be compared with benzodiazepines and has better tolerance and no dependence. It's used to fight anxiety.
The specific site of GABA receptor has obvious selective binding, high affinity, and anti-anxiety effect on patients lacking central inhibition function, and the effect intensity is similar to that of clozapine. It is characterized by the absence of benzodiazepine endogenous stimulative effect, the enhancement of arousal level is stronger than the inhibition of spontaneous action, good tolerance, little possibility of sedation and impairment of motor function, no muscle relaxant effect, and no dependence. Studies on healthy subjects showed that this product had no effect on sleep structure. No eeg, cognitive ability or psychomotor abnormalities were found the next day after taking the drug. This product also has broad spectrum anticonvulsive effect, adverse reaction rate is low.
