General Description
BOP is a large valve used to control wellbore fluids. In this type of valve, the sealing element resembles a large rubber doughnut that is mechanically squeezed inward to seal on either pipe (drill collar, drillpipe, casing, or tubing) or the openhole. A ram-type blowout preventer is basically a large bore valve. The ram blowout preventer is designed to seal off the well bore when drill pipe, casing, or tubing is in the well. In a BOP stack, ram preventers are located between the annular blowout preventer and the wellhead.

Functions
• It can seal annular space between drilling tools and casing.
• It can fully seal wellhole if there's no drilling tools inside.
• In some situation, when wellbore closed, operator can do the process of mud circulation, blowout control, well control through connection with manifold from BOP body outlet.
• It can hang drilling tools.
Design Features
• The oval ram and cavity design reduces stress in the BOP body;
• The ram BOP provides a pressure energized seal with maximum contact area with the drill pipe, casing, or tubing, ensures a lower rubber pressure and increased service life;
• Sealing Is enhanced by well pressure on the ram;
