Single-walled carbon nanotubes used in hydrogen storage materials:
1. Single-walled carbon nanotubes and multi-walled
carbon nanotubes, we found that the position of defects in carbon nanotubes,
hydrogen adsorption capacity is better. For large-diameter single-walled carbon
nanotubes, defects centralized place more conducive to higher hydrogen storage;
while for relatively low purity multi-wall carbon nanotubes, defects
concentrated, are also conducive to hydrogen absorption.
2. Carbon nanotubes are currently the most
studied carbon hydrogen storage material with hydrogen storage capacity, fast
release of hydrogen,Release of hydrogen at room temperature and so
on. So, is considered to be a kind of broad prospects for development of hydrogen
storage materials.
3. Adsorption of carbon nanotubes is mainly due
to the effect of nanoparticle surface hydroxyl carbon tube. Hydroxyl groups
present on the surface of the carbon nanotube can be bonded and certain
cationic, to achieve the apparent generation of metal ions or organic
adsorption. Further, carbon nanotubes having a large specific surface area of
particles is also an important reason for the adsorption of carbon nanotubes.
4 Synthesis of SWNTS after appropriate treatment
can be stored at room temperature, hydrogen gas, the hydrogen storage of up to
4.2% by weight, and 78.3 percent of the stored hydrogen at ambient temperature
and pressure can be released from the hydrogen remaining after heating may be
released, this SWNTS able to re-use, with a high commercial value.
