What is Gallium Metal used for?
Semiconductor application is the main demand for gallium, and the next major application is for gadolinium gallium garnets.
6N high-purity gallium is used to serve the semiconductor industry. about 98% of the gallium consumption is Gallium arsenide (GaAs) and gallium nitride (GaN), which is used in electronic components represented . About 66% of semiconductor gallium is used in integrated circuits (mostly gallium arsenide), for example the manufacture of ultra-high-speed logic chips and MESFETs for low-noise microwave preamplifiers in cell phones.
Gallium is also a component in photovoltaic compounds (for example copper indium gallium selenium sulfide Cu(In,Ga)(Se,S)2) used in solar panels as a cost-efficient alternative to crystalline silicon.
