The module has onboard firmware which is found in the Flash memory of the IS200DSPXH1D controller, within the firmware there are three main firmware types which are as follows, application code, configuration parameters, and boot loader.

There are thirty-nine I/O connectors, which allow data transfer from and to the boards attached to the backplanes.
