LFT PP Reinforce Thermoplastic, a long fiber reinforced thermoplastic, is Long Fiber reinforced Thermoplastics, compared to conventional fiber reinforced thermoplastics. Typically, fiber lengths in fiber reinforced thermoplastics are less than 1 mm, while in LFT, The length of the fiber is generally more than 2 mm. The current processing technology has been able to maintain the fiber length in the LFT above 5 mm.
Long Glass Fiber Reinforced Polypropylene (LGFPP) is one of the new varieties of attention.
As a carrier material for automotive modules, this material can not only effectively improve the rigidity, impact strength, creep resistance and dimensional stability of the product, but also make complex automotive module products. Due to the strength requirements, the conventional module carrier is usually obtained by stamping a glass fiber mat reinforced thermoplastic (GMT) or a metal plate material based on polypropylene. Due to the use of press forming, it is difficult to integrate multiple parts. In order to increase the rigidity and strength and to obtain a thin forming thickness, it is also necessary to use a reinforcing rib. In addition, other steps are required to remove the flash and burrs of the molded part. All of the above factors constrain the reduction in weight and cost of automotive module products. Since metal is not suitable for forming complex shapes, it limits its use in many parts, which also hinders cost reduction.
In contrast, long glass fiber reinforced plastic injection molding can overcome many of the above drawbacks. However, the glass fibers may be damaged during the injection molding process without obtaining the required strength.
