The MVI94-MCM is a Modbus Master or Slave Network Interface Module designed for seamless integration of Flex processors with Modbus protocol-compatible devices. This module, part of the Flex I/O series, features a single-slot design that is compatible with 1794 backplanes, allowing it to be installed in any slot of the backplane. It has a backplane current load of 20 mA at 5 Volts and requires an external power supply rated at 12 to 24 Volts DC.
The MVI94-MCM operates within a temperature range of 0 to 55 degrees Celsius and can be stored between -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. It is built with a shock absorption capability of 30 grams during operation and 50 grams in non-operational conditions. The module supports a relative humidity range of 5 to 95% (non-condensing).
Equipped with LED indicators, the module provides visual feedback on its status and backplane data transfer activities. A communication program is needed to send and receive data between the module and a computer through the serial port, with HyperTerminal being the recommended software.
The module supports the storage and transfer of over 5000 registers to and from the processor’s data files. Additionally, it features user-definable memory and an application port that can emulate either a Modbus master or slave device, ensuring flexibility and adaptability for various communication setups.
