high viscosity traditional carbomer 676
INCI Name: Carbomer
NM-Carbomer
676 polymer is a highly crosslinked polyacrylic acid polymer.
It has short flow
characteristics and relatively high viscosity performance. It is recommended for use in Automatic dish care, hard surface cleaners, home
care cleaning systems, gelled fuels and other common industrial systems. It has
good viscosity stability in the presence of chlorine bleach and has good
efficacy in high pH systems.

Formula Guidelines
l
Typical use 0.2 to 1.0 wt% for
very cost - effective formulations
l
To
disperse NM-Carbomer676 completely, it should be slowly and carefully sifted to
dispersion medium while the mix is stirred rapidly to avoid possible formation
of lumps
l
Higher shear rates helps disperse the polymer
rapidly; however, extremely high shear rate mixer should be carefully employed
to avoid viscosity loss
l
For easier processing of a 2~5
wt% dispersion, 400 ppm of an inorganic acid can be added to the water prior to dispersion of the polymer
Under high shear agitation,
dispersions of NM-Carbomer 676 polymer can stabilize entrapped air. Antifoam, at use levels of 0.02~0.05 wt%, can
be added to the water prior to NM-Carbomer 676 polymer in order to minimize or
eliminate foaming
