For MTB XC carbon rims, strength and weight should be both top priority which is essential for riders’ safety and good cycling experience.
PMC932-XC (ProX asymmetric mtb 29er) carbon rims are made from Toray T700 carbon fiber which is the basis to make high strength mtb carbon rims. The max rider weight limit is 120kg/265lb.
PMC932GP-XC carbon rims are made from premium Toray T700+T800+Graphene pre-preg to achieve super light weight, which is more suitable for lighter weight XC riders (max weight limit 100kg/220lb).
Furthermore, PMC932 rims feature reinforced nipple bed. As it is highlighted in below picture, the area around spoke holes are raised with extra carbon material added, which make it stronger, prevent from being pulled through by high spoke tension.
Asymmetric design helps to make wheelset with more even spoke tension between drive side and non-drive side. On the one hand, it makes wheelset stiffer since the spoke tension on non-drive side can be higher (than regular carbon wheels built with symmetric rims). On the other hand, the closer spoke tension between two sides make the wheelset more difficult to get loose after long time of use, which means less maintenance is needed.
Thus, our MTB carbon rims are light weight, but still strong and durable.
