The output data is voted on the output modules as close to the field as possible, which enables the Tricon to detect and compensate for any errors that might occur between the voting and the final output driven to the field.

As each input module is polled, the new input data is transmitted to the main processor over the appropriate channel of the I/O bus.

|
A triplicated I/O bus is located on the chassis backplane and is extended from chassis to chassis by means of I/O bus cables.
